Stop in time
Brim 100. Two pours: 38 + 33 = 71, so the glass is at 71.0%. Stopping here banks 35 points.
The rules
Three glasses a day, six cards in each. Every card hides a real-world number. Tap a card to pour its number into the glass, then stop as close to the brim as you dare. One pour too many and it spills.
Each glass has a topic and a brim, for example “Brim: 100 · atomic number”. The brim is the total you are aiming for. Topics come from real data, such as atomic numbers, populations, country areas, distances between capital cities or food energy.
Every card is one item, like an element or a country. Tap it and its hidden number pours into the glass and is revealed. Each card pours once, and a pour can’t be undone.
Once you have poured, the STOP button shows what you would bank right now, like “STOP · bank 43”. Tap it to end the glass with that score.
Go past 103% of the brim and the glass spills. It ends at once and scores 0.
The glasses come in a fixed order: Small, Medium, then Big. Each one scores up to 100 points, so a day is worth up to 300.
Three glasses with made-up cards, poured the way the game pours them.
Brim 100. Two pours: 38 + 33 = 71, so the glass is at 71.0%. Stopping here banks 35 points.
Brim 250. Three pours: 120 + 85 + 47 = 252, which is 100.8% of the brim. The liquid domes over the rim and holds, Bob balances on top, and the glass scores the full 100.
Brim 100. After 60 + 37 the glass is at 97.0% and STOP would bank 90. One more pour of 9 takes it to 106.0%: it spills and scores 0.
The closer you stop to the brim, the more you bank, and the last few percent are worth the most. Anything from 99% to 103% of the brim scores the full 100.
97.0% scores 90 points
Close to the brim…
| Fill | Points | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing poured | 0 (dry glass) | – |
| Below 85% | 50 × (fill ÷ 85%)² | 60% → 25 · 79% → 43 |
| 85% to 95% | 50, plus 3 for every point above 85% | 88% → 59 · 92.4% → 72 |
| 95% to 99% | 80, plus 5 for every point above 95% | 97% → 90 · 98% → 95 |
| 99% to 100% | 100, brimful | 99% → 100 · 100% → 100 |
| Over 100%, up to 103% | 100, surface tension | 101.2% → 100 · 103% → 100 |
| Over 103% | 0, spilled | 103.01% → 0 |
Points are rounded to the nearest whole number, and the fill is shown to one decimal place. The bands meet exactly, so 85% scores 50, 95% scores 80 and 99% scores 100.
Your three glasses add up to a day score out of 300, and the day gets a title.
Each glass opens with a short intro card, then a 45-second clock starts. When it runs out, the game stops for you and banks what is in the glass. If you haven’t poured anything, it’s a dry glass and scores 0.
The clock pauses while the tab is in the background or the help is open. Every glass gets one attempt: reloading the page brings you back exactly where you were, cards, level and clock included.
Prefer no clock? Turn on Relaxed mode in Settings. It starts with your next glass, and your share shows a 🐢.
The result shows all six numbers. The best pour, the combination of cards with the highest total that still doesn’t spill, gets a gold outline, so you can see how close you came. You also see what Pourbot poured, and a short “Why it’s tricky” note explains the catch, with the source of the numbers and its license.
Pourbot is a bot, not a person and not an AI that memorized facts. It sees every card through foggy glasses: each value is blurred by random noise (about ±25%), fixed in advance by the puzzle number. It then pours the card it believes lands closest to the brim without going over, and repeats until it believes nothing else fits, or until it spills. Its runs are computed when the puzzle is made and sealed with the puzzle, so it can never peek at your play.
Every day your total is compared with Pourbot’s: you win, lose or tie. Stats keep your record against it, all time and this month, for daily puzzles.
A new puzzle opens every day at midnight, your local time. Puzzles are numbered: #1 opened on October 15, 2026, and the number goes up by one each day. If Brimbob is open at midnight, it tells you when the new glasses are in.
Missed a day? Every past puzzle is waiting in the puzzle archive. Archive plays never change your streak or your record against Pourbot.
Finish the daily puzzle on consecutive days to build a streak. Every 7 days of streak earns a streak freeze, and you can hold up to 2. A freeze covers one missed day: finish the next daily puzzle and your streak carries on. Miss two days in a row and the streak starts again from 1.
